Creating VO is one of my favorite things to work on.
I am experienced in producing scripts for voice work and directing voice artists.
Listed below are a few examples.
Hermes - Messenger of the Gods
Listen to VO performed by Simon Hill:
Hello, handsome! Hahaha, lookin’ good! That’s obviously me, Hermes – the Messenger of the gods! I am the patron of travelers, traders, and erm... thieves, but don’t believe everything you hear. My parents are Zeus and the Pleiad Maia who is the daughter of the titan Atlas. Yes, that Atlas. I love riddles and puzzles! They say I’m a very clever and sly *cough* trickster… again, people talk all kinds of nonsense sometimes...
Okay, SO! My symbols are the winged sandals and helmet! Oh, also the Caduceus - my scepter with snakes and wings, which my brother Apollo gave me. One time, when I was a cute little baby, I supposedly stole my brother’s sacred cattle or something, who cares. But he told Zeus, who was, of course, very disappointed. Ugh. So, tiny, innocent baby Hermes invented the lyre and presented it to Apollo. We’re good now.
Duh! Best gift ever!
Hephaestus - God of Blacksmiths
Listen to VO performed by Simon Hill:
Oooh, this is Hephaestus – god of blacksmiths and craftsmen. His mother, Hera, conceived him all by herself while she was angry at Zeus. Yeah, things sometimes work like that up here... don’t worry about it! Hephaestus loves his mother and was the only one who helped her when she was punished by Zeus. When Father found out, he threw Hephaestus off Mount Olympus and left the poor guy a cripple. Good thing he survived the fall because later, he forged some amazing stuff – the armor of Achilles, my own winged helmet and sandals, Pandora’s box, and even Pandora herself. The symbols of Hephaestus are the hammer and the anvil. No surprise there.
Dionysus – God of Wine
Listen to VO performed by Simon Hill:
This guy is Dionysus – god of wine, grapes, festivity, and resurrection, patron of the theater. He often leads a procession of dancers, satyrs, and various exotic creatures. People hold huge celebrations in his name, known as mysteries. They symbolize the new beginning, the start of the fertile season, and the rebirth of the earth. He is the only Olympian who’s not from around here, and he’s the son of Zeus and Semele, a mortal. Hey... outlander, son of a mortal - you guys have so much in common!
Dionysus often travels around the world with his entourage. His symbols are the grapes and... the goat. I know, we don’t talk about it.
